Volunteer Opportunities

The Ark is recruiting volunteers to join the team. It is a great opportunity to help make a real difference to lives of local people, meet new people and gain new skills and experience.

The current opportunities are listed below.

Friday Night Project Support

The Friday Night Project is a weekly social activity held at St Crispin's Leisure Centre in Wokingham. Volunteers are needed to support people to socialise and take part. Experience of working with people with learning disabilities is desirable but not essential as training will be provided. There is a weekly raffle so volunteers may be asked to help sell tickets as well as help run the tuck shop. We are not expecting volunteers to attend every week.

Further details are available here.

Umbrella Chaperone

Umbrella is the Ark's supported friendship and dating service. Chaperones are required to provide back-ground support and encouragement on first dates and to help support larger group social events. Experience of working with people with learning disabilities, autism and/or acquired brain injury is desirable. Full training including the protocol of dating and the role of the chaperone is provided.

Further details are available here.
